Morgan Smith has been named the 2026 recipient of the Robert H. and Carol L. Deibel Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in Probiotic Research! This prestigious fellowship from the Food Research Institute offers a generous stipend and research funds. Congratulations to Morgan!
Morgan works in the JP van Pijkeren lab, where she researches how dietary sugars affect the competition of gut microbes and probiotics. She has been invited to present her work at the 2026 Beneficial Microbes Conference this summer, and next summer she will serve as the chair for the 2027 Gordon Research Seminar on Lactic Acid Bacteria.
