Karen Antunes makes authorial debut with paper on the role of the mycobiome
The focus of her first paper is the role the mycobiome has in host physiology and disease. “Mammals have evolved under an inseparable association with diverse microbial gut colonizers; thus, fine-tuned host-microbial interactions shape our susceptibility to immunological, oncogenic, metabolic and infectious outcomes.”

The paper, “Acetyl-CoA availability regulates neuronal metabolism, growth, and synaptic activity”, centers around the versatile metabolite acetyl-CoA and the central role it plays in cellular metabolic homeostasis.
